Sous Chef Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Menu Development: Collaborate with the Head Chef to create innovative and enticing menus that reflect culinary trends, seasonal ingredients, and guest preferences.
  2. Food Preparation: Oversee all aspects of food preparation, including but not limited to, ingredient selection, cooking techniques, portion control, and plating presentation, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish served.
  3. Kitchen Management: Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, including scheduling, inventory control, and equipment maintenance, to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow in the kitchen.
  4. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster a positive and productive work environment conducive to culinary excellence and teamwork.
  5. Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices in compliance with local regulations and company policies to ensure the health and safety of guests and staff.
  6. Guest Satisfaction: Interact with guests to understand their preferences and dietary restrictions, address any concerns or special requests promptly and professionally, and strive to exceed guest expectations with every meal served.
  7. Cost Management: Assist in controlling food costs and labor expenses by implementing efficient kitchen practices, minimizing waste, and maximizing productivity without compromising on quality or guest satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant or hospitality establishment.
  • Culinary degree or diploma from an accredited culinary school or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cuisines, cooking techniques, and food trends.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff.
  • Proficient in food safety and sanitation standards, with a keen eye for detail and adherence to quality control measures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure with grace and professionalism.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in KSA.
