Sous Chef Job Description:

As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee the kitchen operations, ensure food quality and consistency, and inspire the culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Executive Chef in planning menus, developing new recipes, and ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
  2. Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, to ensure smooth operations during service periods.
  3. Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen team members to maintain high levels of performance, creativity, and professionalism.
  4. Monitor food production processes to ensure adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  5. Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, controlling food costs, and minimizing waste.
  6. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, including equipment maintenance, storage areas, and workstations.
  7. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
  8. Collaborate with other departments, such as front-of-house staff and management, to coordinate service and resolve any issues.
  9. Stay updated on culinary trends, techniques, and ingredient availability to innovate menu offerings and enhance the dining experience.
  10. Assist in scheduling staff, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing disciplinary actions as necessary.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior culinary position in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  2. Culinary degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized culinary institute.
  3. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  4. Creative flair, passion for food, and willingness to experiment with new ingredients and techniques.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and demands.
  7. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  8. UAE-based candidates or those willing to relocate will be given preference.
