Position Overview: Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort is seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Sous Chef will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of culinary excellence and innovation in our resort’s kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Menu Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef in creating innovative and enticing menus that reflect the culinary vision of the resort, incorporating seasonal ingredients and local flavors.
  2. Food Preparation: Oversee the preparation and cooking of dishes, ensuring that all culinary offerings meet the established quality and presentation standards of the resort.
  3. Kitchen Management: Assist in managing day-to-day kitchen operations, including staff supervision, scheduling, inventory management, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  4. Team Leadership: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and growth.
  5. Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of food preparation areas, equipment, and storage facilities to maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards.
  6. Cost Control: Monitor food and labor costs, minimizing waste, optimizing resource utilization, and maximizing profitability without compromising on quality or guest satisfaction.
  7. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including the Food and Beverage team, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of culinary offerings across all dining outlets.


  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume, upscale dining establishment or hotel/resort environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and cooking methods, with a passion for creativity and innovation in the kitchen.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of culinary professionals.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the demands of the operation.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
