Sous Chef Job Description:

Position: Sous Chef

Location: Sharjah Collection, United Arab Emirates

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation in the kitchen to ensure high-quality and consistent culinary offerings.
  2. Oversee and manage kitchen operations, including food production, inventory management, and kitchen staff supervision.
  3. Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop innovative menus that reflect the culinary vision and concept of Sharjah Collection.
  4. Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure adherence to culinary standards, proper cooking techniques, and safety protocols.
  5. Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control to maintain consistency and meet guest expectations.
  6. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP guidelines, to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
  7. Assist in sourcing, ordering, and managing inventory of fresh ingredients and culinary supplies to minimize waste and control costs.
  8. Implement and enforce kitchen policies and procedures to optimize efficiency, productivity, and teamwork among kitchen staff.
  9. Actively participate in menu planning, recipe development, and food costing to drive profitability and culinary innovation.
  10. Stay updated on culinary trends, techniques, and best practices to continuously elevate the culinary offerings and guest experience.
  11. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes creativity, growth, and excellence among kitchen team members.
  12. Handle any kitchen-related issues or guest feedback with professionalism and efficiency, striving to exceed guest expectations at all times.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior culinary position in a reputable hospitality establishment.
  2. Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution is preferred.
  3. Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate kitchen staff to achieve culinary excellence.
  4. Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques, cooking methods, and international cuisines.
  5. Proficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and food costing to drive culinary innovation and profitability.
  6. Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP guidelines, to ensure compliance and kitchen hygiene.
  7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and coordinate with kitchen and service staff.
  8. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
  9. Must be legally eligible to work in the United Arab Emirates.
