Position: Commis

Location: Sharjah Collection, United Arab Emirates

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes in accordance with the menu specifications and standards of the establishment.
  2. Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the chef de partie or sous chef.
  3. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen work areas, including food preparation surfaces, equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
  4. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control procedures.
  5. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items, recipes, and culinary techniques.
  6. Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and practices to maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
  7. Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food products and supplies to ensure freshness and quality.
  8. Monitor food stock levels and communicate inventory needs to the chef de partie or sous chef.
  9. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking appliances.
  10. Support the kitchen team in achieving overall operational efficiency and guest satisfaction goals.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Commis or similar role in a culinary environment.
  2. Knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary terminology, and kitchen equipment operation.
  3. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  4. Strong attention to detail and a passion for food and cooking.
  5. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  6. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  7. Certification from a culinary school or relevant training program is a plus.
  8. Must be legally eligible to work in the United Arab Emirates.
